Le Bris expecting "exciting challenge" vs Brighton
da pinnacle: Not even the most optimistic Sunderland fans were expecting the Black Cats to start this well in their return to the Premier League. Those in Wearside spent big in the summer and have since turned that spending into performances, with their best win coming in the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle United last time out.
Now as high as eighth in the Premier League – just two points outside the top four – Regis Le Bris has looked ahead to what he described as another “exciting challenge” against Brighton this weekend.
The Sunderland boss also provided some positive team news, telling reporters: “We have no injuries at the minute which is really positive and I hope it will be the case for this period.
“The team will be a bit different, but I think for the players with less game time, they knew before that this period will come. They are ready because they trained properly, they are well-connected with the squad and now we’ll manage the game and we’ll see.”
That’s not to say the Black Cats won’t be without players, however. With AFCON set to get underway, Sunderland will be without Reinildo, Noah Sadiki, Chemsdine Talbi and Artur Masuaku, who have all travelled to represent their nations at the tournament.

Joining them will also be Habib Diarra, but not before Sunderland get the chance to see their club-record signing back in action in the Premier League in a major boost for Le Bris.
Habib Diarra now "set to be involved" for Sunderland vs Brighton
As relayed by Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Diarra is now “set to be involved” against Brighton before travelling to represent Senegal at AFCON after the game.
Le Bris confirmed the news that his £27m signing could end his rehab process against Brighton, saying: “Yes, he might be with us for Brighton and it will be the end of his rehab process.
“If it’s all positive he will be able to leave with his national team. We are connected with the national teams and it was the challenge for Habib, he has to be ready for anything.
“If he leaves after Brighton knowing he might start the games – he won’t start (at Brighton) but he will be on the bench – it means he is ready for anything and if it’s the case, we are confident for Habib, for the club and for the national team.”
