WHAT HAPPENED?
With cup matters set aside and League Two's cramped Christmas fixture schedule upcoming the Dragons are preparing themselves for a period that could go some way to defining the season. Six league games in just 24 days will provide a stern mental and physical test but Jones senses an opportunity to rack up points quickly and push ahead in what has so far proven to be a congested table.

WHAT JAMES JONES SAID
"It is an important time," the 27-year-old told the Wrexham Leader. "Because you can quickly pull away from teams or equally, teams can pull away from you if you are not picking up points in a short period of time.
"We know what it's going to be like. It's a hectic period but we have done it before and it is a good, strong squad. That's going to be important, especially when you have got games back-to-back in a short period of time."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Wrexham have recovered from a shaky start to life in League Two to climb to second in the race for the three automatic promotion spots to League One. While leaders Stockport have opened up a five-point gap at the top, the Red Dragons sit at the head of a pack of five sides separated by just a single point. How that picture looks by the time the FA Cup returns in January could be pivotal.
